Education, which makes the society progress, is like a river that irrigate the tree around the mountain.
Taiwan has started「12-year Basic Education」in August 2019. According to the「Curriculum Guidelines of 12-Year Basic Education」 of Ministry of Education, it’s important to breed students’ personality, including spontaneity and cooperation, and think about their need. Within (the) global village, there are no distance but are international competition. Besides, the improvement of technology and the mess information make students anomie which means ambiguous for their future. As a result, this plan’s goal is to give a hand to (the) nearby school through our resource.
There is a new class of Technology in「Curriculum Guidelines of 12-Year Basic Education」that make the young have programming education. However, there are a few problems in the plan, such as insufficient teachers and facilities. How to deal with them is the key to success. As a result, this plan divides four plans to execute that have the class in summer vacation.
The first sub-project is led by teacher Zeng Teng-Hui and students from Department of Communication Engineering. They design a “Game Design”class for four schools in summer vacation, which includes three-year courses of Kodu, Scratch and APP Inventor. Using computers to programming and having the achievement on the phone and pad that make the students have a nice experience and improve their ability of information and calculation.
The second sub-project is led by teacher Tsai Wen-Long and students from Department of Information Management. They design a “Robot Design”class for four schools in summer vacation, which includes three-years courses of mBot, Matrix Mini and Lego EV3. Using computers to programming and controlling the robot with sensors that make the students understand programming and control the robot to complete the mission.
The third pub-project is led by teacher Chiang Yan-Ru and students from Department of Electronic Engineering. They design a “Internet of Things Design”class for four schools in summer vacation, which includes three-years courses of micro: bit, SA2 and Webduino. Using computers to programming and controlling the robot with sensors that make the students experience programming and control the Arduino with sensors that make the students experience programming and control the device to detect the environment.
The forth sub-project is led by teacher Ling Shang-Ming and students from
Department of Materials and Textiles. They design a “Internet of Things Design” class for four schools in summer vacation, which includes three-years courses of Digital tax stamp, Knitwear and 3D-Print. Using computers to design 2D or 3D model and outputting them by different kinds of printers make the students experience the design of daily product through programming.
The 2019 summer camp was held in Chongqing junior high school, Ji-Sui junior high school, Zhong Zheng junior high school and Yulin junior high school. The members of the camp included the new students of the school and the old ones. The class was held in each school’s computer room. To eliminate the distance between the rich and the poor students, the camp was free to encourage the students. The camp divided into class and intramural competition. First of all, college students as teachers shared their skills learned from school to students of the camp, by which the students could have interest in technology and promoted their competition. Second, through a group of college students that reduced the rate of teachers and students, which could deal with students’ questions effectively. In the end, there is a match for the out standers of four schools held in the last week of camp. Every student who represented their school did their best to win this match.
After the training in the summer camp, we noticed that every student became more interested. In particularly, students did their best to show what they’ve learned in the final match. On the other hand, not only students grew up, but college students did. They learned how to express and lead through became summer camp’s teachers, which they could examine what they’ve learned from college and then dealt with their weakness.
In the other words, through this plan, not only can practice the goal of Ministry of Education but also improve the technology class of elementary schools. Besides, this plan can breed students’ technology skill and eliminate the disparity between rich and poor. We hope through this plan can improve Taiwanese education and find the partner with familiar ideal to fight for our future.
