Nan Guan District includes Rende District, Guiren District, Guanmiao District, and Longci District, closely surrounded by Tainan City. Chung Hwa University of Medical Technology is located in Rende District, because of such relation, we continued 1st term Cultivation of Health and Well-being in Nan Guan Area. And in 2nd term cultivation plan, we will use a more effective method to help the field carry out the accurate personal health management and the rural education revitalization.
Guard Community Health Together
Our team is formed across the Department of Nursing, Optometry, Acupressure Technology, and Food Nutrition these four departments’ teachers and students. Our team irregularly visits communities to care for elders’ health and provide help to community residents in local on healthy aging. Apart from visiting communities to care for the livelihood of silver-hair elders, teachers and students depend on the measured physiological data to provide health improvement methods and suggestions. And by uploading residents’ health status to Cloud through the Internet of Things, and setting up the health care management platform, they assist village chiefs to build up the silver-hair elders’ database and personalized health management. What made us feel a little regretful in the process is finding out that the health education knowledge of many elders is generally insufficient. Therefore, we arrange a series of health education promotion activities to teach daily health care to elders, including having health management and forming moderate exercise habits, and to practice simple and easy muscular endurance calisthenics to make the body healthier, wishing to let elders learn happily, do healthier.
In each activity, students do their best to help elders, using Apps to watch related information of personal data uploaded to Cloud and health promotion. Elders and their family members keep abreast of the times, and keep up with the pace of information technology, controlling self-health at any time. Students’ growth is the most precious harvest in the process of doing community service. They expressed that through these activities, courage and insight were largely on the increase, the improvement of Taiwanese Hokkien community ability was also one of the additional values! The most important thing was that students learned how to use ice-cold information to pass on warm care and the value of health to other people else.
Delay Infirmity of Long-term Care Residents
Long-term care institutions are often mostly a group of disability with dementia, and enormous care demands needed for elders. For this reason, we bring in horticultural therapy, aromatherapy, muscle training, and nutritional supplement these various complementary therapies, and take care of elders’ body, mind, soul at the same time. By approaching different kinds of activities, we hope to guide elders to make their bodies smooth and open their minds.It also can improve elders’ cognitive ability and memory effectively and let them extend their interpersonal relationship and increase interaction with other people, for reaching the body-mind-balancing maintenance.
Our team also receives the affirmation from the Public Health Bureau, Tainan City Government simultaneously, as the plan is approved by the Public Health Bureau, this makes resources become more abundant. By means of the injection of these resources, we can even more take care of elders in various aspects, like food nutrition aspect. Because of professional nutritionists’ participation, they make elders not only can experience food safety activity, but also can through the meal management from the kitchen of the institution of counseling, let elders, in the meal aspect, can feel happiness in the same time, and also be safer, more guaranteed.
Still remembering that once the activity started because the time was delayed, elders in the institution felt a little worried and asked when we would arrive in a caring tone. It can be seen that elders, who have lived there, eagerly looked forward to our coming. And from this, we know they are desolate and lonesome in daily times, always filling with expectation to have opportunity to communicate with outside world. Therefore, we ourselves promise that partners who join each plan will also become a little sun, wishing to bring sunshine into their lives, shining the light on their heartland.
Innovation Teaching Takes Root Downward
High-Quality Education shall take root downward when it is in junior high school and elementary school. Creating innovative teaching methods and providing innovative service is one of the directions on our planning efforts, assisting Longci Elementary School to use “bamboo” as main axis for revising school-based curriculum, and then joined 7th National Environmental Education Awards by Environmental Protection Department, receiving Nationwide Excellence Award; besides, we else use “love hometown, love water, love home country” as principal axis, cooperated with Rende Junior High School to hold an outdoor education activity. Our team, through many times discussing issues with Rende Junior High School, establishing cultivation goals and on-site survey interaction, leaded 126 teachers and students to finish the challenge of Cycle Around Hometown. Students knew about Er Ren River, realized water purification plants, and also visited Wan Long Temple and Wan Nian Xian Bei. Let students had a deeper understanding on the history of this land where nurturing themselves and the origin of culture. After events ended, what everyone left in their hearts is full of touch, and they await these experiences to sow good seeds of loving hometown, loving land, and loving people in their hearts. Thanks to the assistance from teachers of two schools, we were able to finish “Colorful Lava Lamp Practice” and “Step on Er Ren River, Kunxi Bay” two science popularization lesson plans, and provided feedback for schools to use.
This plan is not only entering communities and institutions, but also entering deeply into campuses of junior high schools and elementary schools. Through intelligentized personal health management service and flipped learning activity, it helps different age groups live in accommodation, has adaptive development; brings our school’s professional medical care into play, with the input of teachers and students, wishing each person we approached can feel happy and hopeful because of living healthily.
