International Dialogue of Sustainable Urban-Rural: One Pond, One Community, and One School
From University Social Responsibility (USR) watching Urban-Rural Sustainability and Protection of Landscape
The university plays the role of the highest academic palace. There is no denying the location of the university owns some influences of the certain city. The CYCU’s design goals and aims at carrying out the concept of “Sustainable Care, Creative Service.”
Additionally, it plans to get the professional knowledge and capability set up for the students. CYCU also cultivates students’ vision of social responsibility and thinking over a long period of time. Therefore, they can contribute and provide feedback to society in the future. CYCU leads the students to observe the cities.
This study offered a personal opinion on the effect of water conservancy constructions in Taoyuan City throughout the past century, especially on its culture and landscape -- Numerous irrigation ponds dug on the tableland during Ching dynasty; the irrigation ditches constructed in the mountains and Taoyuan canal built on the tableland by the Japanese colonial government; Shihmen reservoir and Shihmen canal constructed during the restoration period. The major water conservancy constructions mentioned above drastically changed the landscape of Taoyuan city, accumulated countless political, economic, cultural and engineering significance during the modification of landscape, and thus the interpretation of cultural landscape became the soul of this research.

We’ve been practicing the path from Xiaoli. There is connected two main ditches of Taoyuan, and surrounded by sub-ditch of Chunglin which was the industrial core formerly. It’s our important area of USR of Chung Yuan Christian University. Based on the area, we extend to Salak South New Village in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We mutually dialogue by city general correspondence and expect to reach the following goals of the city by the power of design. By partner alliances of Universities of education connection such as Chien Hsin University, Nanya Institute of Technology and Vanung University in Taoyuan, meanwhile, we assist them with the elegant education of junior high schools and elementary schools in local and enhance the cognitive education of city culture and the care of environments. The importance and bearing of USR integrate into the syllabus of teaching materials, and then enjoys and shares the achievements of creative developments. All of us can together set up a living web of education – One Pond, One Community, and One School. While preparing the international courses, we and UCSI in Malaysia all got the ball rolling to observe, analyze, strategize and practice the share of design. To cultivate the owning of international vision of talented persons, to pass on the responsibility of society are what we deeply hope them stride forward to city vision of their own cities from the universities to elementary schools and from domestic areas to abroad.
Beauty and Gloominess of Ponds , Rebirth and Extension of Landscapes
As a matter of fact, there has been scattered all over ponds in Taoyuan. From the sky, we could clearly watch many sparkle crystals in the Taoyuan plateau. Owing to past gradual developments, the ponds disappeared so many. As we know the ponds are closely related to our daily lives. The functions of ponds provide not only irrigation but also flood discharge, climate regulation, sightseeing, education, and some other valuable advantages. The ponds reveal the intensive environmental connections with the lives. The USR Project of College of Design in CYCU proposed -- One Pond, One Community, and One School -- its main aim pointed out the connotation of spatial narration of specific water culture in Taoyuan. In order to vividly appear the features of the ponds on the postcards, CYCU and Nanya Institute of Technology collaborate on a project of using AR to research the guiding APP. By color and sound even real atmosphere, we build a dedicated lane to landscapes. We even transfer to the series lecture courses from the research achievements of the past decades. It let the international partner alliance of UCSI to use other people's experiences of urban planning. Xiaoli got fruitful DFC environmental education basement through many years of operating. The university and the faculty and students of local elementary schools play an important role in the guard. It also let the wetlands exempt from the fate of the landfill. Therefore, its transformation to the important education basement by observing the records of native species can be regenerated.
Chungli City and Salak South New Village Culture Preservation and Development Foresight
CYCU located in Chungli and UCSI University is adjacent to the Salak South New Village have felt the trends of urban renewal. Under these circumstances, so many old images owing spirit of the times are facing and coming to an end. Not only the memory warehouses and the old fade metropolitan in Chungli city are preserved and revitalized but the modern Chinese villages in Malaysia are chasing changeable opportunities. Demolishing then reconstruction or revitalized transformation is the ordeal and chance which are the two cities facing together. Though being restricted to the novel coronavirus, we can’t visit Salak South New Village personally for undertaking the basement reformation and empowering work. The Malaysian teaching experience exchanges especially for the application of new media teaching, the collocation of industrial resources, the training of professional skills experiences, and so on can be admirable and understandable.
The practice of city protects with CYCU included field study, initiative, the activation strategy of design creativity, and integration of overall brands at the front train station; the sound records of cultures of new immigrants at rear train station transforms the local cultural history, metropolitan texture, foreign flavors, and life stories into the actual action schemes through designs of courses. It will be implemented in the physical field of reformation and activities, marketing promotion online and mass media, design the guideline, and education promotion. We invited foreign students contributing to the interdisciplinary courses of USR to take part in the Summer International Camp. We also led the local senior high schools to step into the learning basement. The participants wrote down Chungli story scripts which they discovered in person. By the vivid and real script, the next generation can warm up in advance to undertaking the stick of social responsibility. We fulfill the above missions via transnational video joint meetings, online workshops, and international series lectures. The tasks will be carried out and linked to the international alliance one by one.

- According to the R.O.C Tax Act, if the prize winner is an individual residing in Taiwan, and the prize amount (value) exceeds NT$1,000 (inclusive), then a copy of both sides of the ID card will need to be handed in for taxation, which will be incorporated into individual income for the annual taxation. If the prize winner is not an individual residing in Taiwan, 20% of reward tax must be deducted from the reward first regardless of the prize amount before the prize winner can collect the reward. If the prize winner is not an adult, a household registration transcript must be provided along with a letter of consent from the legal representative. If the prize winner is unwilling to pay the tax first, he/she will be deemed to give up the reward, and no objections will be accepted.
- If the prize winner is in violation of the relevant event measures or has other dissents, the organizer is allowed to retrieve the reward and no objections from the prize winner will be accepted.
